Assessment Topic (Priority Framework)

Read Time (<1 min)

Let’s talk about the Priority Framework. Let’s take a moment to look behind the scenes at how this resource was designed and how it can support you.

We set out to assess how individuals are doing across the four pillars of wealth: Finance, Social, Health, and Time. Each question was designed so the answer could turn into a SMART goal. Once a gap is identified, the next step is to get to work.

But we asked a deeper question. What happens when stress shows up? In those moments, how do we determine what is important, what is urgent, and what requires action now? Are we ready? What barriers exist? What is the long-term impact?

These questions became the foundation of the Priority Framework. Instead of assigning weights, FamilyTHINK uses a real-life scenario to reveal natural responses through five decision lenses.

Together, these form a 5 by 5 matrix used to understand how you respond under pressure. Not what is right, but what you actually do. Now is a good time to revisit your Priority Framework results in your assessment readout. If you’d like help interpreting your results, schedule a coaching session and we’ll walk through it together.

Mastery Levels

Why it's important to master things that matter the most?

How do you increase your value in any skill you have?

Mastery.

Let’s talk about levels of mastery.

Mastery allows you to add value to who you are and what you contribute. In return, your excellence can be offered at a premium, whether through a business or through your skills within a role. In most cases, higher levels of mastery lead to higher levels of compensation. As your experience

grows, your ability to produce consistent and reliable results improves. While there are exceptions, the pattern holds when effort is applied with intention over time. FamilyTHINK defines mastery through hours of practice:

- Beginner: 0 to 50 hours
- Novice: 51 to 100 hours
- Intermediate: 101 to 500 hours
- Proficient: 501 to 1,000 hours
- Skilled / Advanced: 1,001 to 5,000 hours
- Expert: 5,001 to 10,000 hours
- Master: 10,000+ hours
- Elite Master: 20,000+ hours

Each level builds on the previous one. What begins as learning becomes repetition, then consistency,

then precision, and eventually instinct. Mastery is available to anyone. The key is choosing where to apply your time and effort. Over time, mastery increases your ability to operate at a higher level across the four pillars. Use your FamilyTHINK assessment results to gain insight into where mastery could have the greatest impact for you. As you review your results, consider which areas deserve your focus and how increasing your level of mastery can help close the gaps.

Person of interest: Jerry Jones

Read Time (<4 min)

For this month, our Person of Influence is Jerry Jones. His story highlights consistency, risk, and long-term ownership.

Name: Jerry Jones
Birth: October 1942
Age: 83
Field of Work: Business, Sports Ownership (NFL)

Early Life:
Jerry Jones was born in Los Angeles and raised in North Little Rock. His father, Pat Jones, owned an insurance business, exposing him early to ownership, structure, and financial responsibility. His mother, Armenia Jones, supported the household and helped maintain a stable foundation.

While public information on his grandparents is limited, his upbringing reflects a consistent environment centered around work ethic, discipline, and opportunity.

He attended the University of Arkansas, where he played football under Frank Broyles. This mentorship helped shape his approach to leadership, accountability, and high standards.

Biggest Challenge to Overcome:
In 1989, Jerry Jones purchased the Dallas Cowboys for $140 million during a period of decline. Shortly after, he made the decision to move on from longtime head coach Tom Landry. This decision brought strong public criticism and immediate pressure.

Jones stepped into full ownership, taking responsibility for both the decision and its outcome, even without a guaranteed path to success.

Notable Success:
Over time, those decisions produced results. The Cowboys won three Super Bowl championships in the 1990s and became one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world.

Beyond performance, Jones helped reshape the business side of sports through branding, marketing, and revenue strategy. The Cowboys became a global business asset valued in the billions.

Legacy:
Jerry Jones and Eugenia Jones built a family-centered operation. Their children—Stephen Jones, Charlotte Jones Anderson, and Jerry Jones Jr.—are all actively involved in the organization.

This reflects a transition from ownership to generational operation.

What continues because he lived includes a globally recognized brand, a structured family role within the business, and a system built for long-term value and control.

Mastery Takeaway:
Jerry Jones shows that mastery is not about having everything figured out at the beginning. It is about committing to growth and maximizing every opportunity to learn.

When he purchased the Cowboys, he did not have a complete roadmap. Instead, he focused, adapted, and used each opportunity to build something greater.

This highlights a key principle: mastery creates leverage. When you consistently learn and apply what you learn, you increase your ability to build value. When that value is structured well, it can continue beyond you.
